On Thursday afternoon Boston firefighters were dispatched to a home for something other than a fire. 
They were able to save a female resident after she was trapped underneath a grate in the rear of the house.
According to reports, she was attempting to keep warm.
Firefighters in Springfield squelched a truck blaze on Switzer Avenue this afternoon. The fire disintegrated the truck engine, the trailer and two vehicles that strapped on the trailer, according to a fire official. 
Dennis Leger, assistant of Fire Commissioner Bernard J. Calvi reported that the incident happened prior to 3 p.m. on 170 Switzer Street.
Firefighters came on scene to find the trailer already on fire.
Arson and Bomb Squads are figuring out the cause of the fire.
It is common knowledge that driving is most dangerous when driving on an unknown route.

Numerous people across the state will visit the emergency room annually for help due to slip-and-fall accidents. Some injuries will not be serious and after some quick treatment they’ll be on their way will not result in a hospital stay. This is because of failure to maintain the surface, like removing the hazard timely. The surface can also be unsafe due to the weather, such as tracked-in snow. Even an attempt to do the right thing, like keep floors clean, can result in an accident. When signs are not posted to notify guests that the floor is slippery a dangerous accident can occur.
A walking surface that is not level is also cause for concern. Carpeting that is fraying or cracks and potholes can cause a slip-and-fall accident. The law mandates that property owners keep their land safe for guests who are invited onto the property. This means clearing any potential dangers.
As a motor vehicle driver, you have a duty under the law to keep yourself, your passengers, and the public safe. Driving lessons may have been something you had a long time 
ago, but it is those principles you need to keep in mind each day.

Traffic was delayed on the Mass Pike traveling eastbound in Chicopee because of a brush fire. 
According to Massachusetts State Police Trooper reports, the fire could be seen near Exit 6.
There are no further details on whether vehicles were involved, or if any injuries were sustained due to an accident.
Earlier today the entire westbound Mass Pike highway was closed in Palmer due to a multi-vehicle accident. 
Massachusetts State Police confirm a collision occurred close to a construction zone after Exit 8.
Traffic was held up for a couple of miles in the afternoon because of the lane closures.
Reports out today indicate that a Lawrence male was declared deceased at the site of a head-on collision in Haverhill Wednesday evening. 
Essex district attorney’s office, reveals, 52-year-old Steven Martin passed away in the 8:22 p.m. accident.
According to reports, Martin was driving his 1999 Acura on River Road close to its intersection of Fletcher Avenue at the moment of the accident.
The driver of the other car, a 2011 Ford Fiesta, sustained minimal injuries. The 44-year-old Haverhill female was attended to at Holy Family Hospital.
The accident remains under review and no criminal citations have been issued.
