Freshman Scott Erlandson, a student at UMass Amherst, has died in an unknown accident.UMAss Amhert student fatality

Representative of UMass Amherst released the news today. Erlandson is the third student fatality this semester. Another student, Caleb Martin, passed away in a car collision.

School officials refuse to release the details or circumstances surrounding his death.

 

Students and staff are advised to utilize therapy services being offered by the school.

Yesterday, early evening, a fire broke out at a house on Three Rivers Road in WilbrahamWilbraham House Fire

The investigation into the cause continues today.

An elderly occupant and toddler were able to flee the house fire.

Firefighters had to shut down Three Rivers Road, starting with Circle Drive down to Boston Road.

Today, Manchester Police revealed that Thomas Tortora was the victim of a fatal accident on Sunday. The man, a Manchester resident, was killed on Highland Street by impact. Manchester wrongful death guard rail accident

Tortora was traveling down Highland Street at a great rate of speed. His vehicle slammed into a guard rail, the force of which ejected him from the scene of the accident. He was declared dead at the scene.

Initial law enforcement conclusions are that the cause of the accident was speed.

Today, the Massachusetts State Police have released the identity of the woman killed in the single-vehicle accident in Mattapoisett yesterday. Bourne Woman Car Fatality

She was 38-year-old Bourne resident Marcy Cushing.

Early yesterday morning her Toyota Camry crashed into a tree after veering off the highway on Route 195 East. No further details have been released.

On Wednesday at about 10:15 a.m., three different sets of fire units were requested to handle a house fire at 90 Ashland Street. The fire took almost an hour toMalden House FIre be squelch, and numerous individuals had to evacuate as a result.

Nearly half a dozen of those individuals that had to relocate were adults. A female, 86 years in age, was inside the building requiring a Malden Police Officer to enter the building to recover her before the arrival of Malden Fire.

The catalyst for the fire is unknown at this time.

On Wednesday, the Saugus Police released information that a male was in a car accident on Saturday.Saugus drunk driving accident

The male’s mother reported that he was driving under the influence.

She stated that at 10:49 a.m. on April 14th he struck the Biscayne Avenue home with his vehicle.

There is no further information on whether the man was arrested, or suffered any injuries.

A single individual complained of head injuries and was taken to Melrose Wakefield Hospital.

The noon accident happened on Route 1 South,near the Essex Street ramp.

There are no details on the identity of the individuals or cause of the accident.

Wednesday’s police logs out of Lynn report another morning car accident. Blossom Street, Lynn, Massachusetts car accident

The collision occurred yesterday, Tuesday April 17th at about 10 a.m. on Blossom Street

Police have not released the identity of the drivers, or whether injuries were sustained.

The collision occurred at Cowdrey Avenue and Lynnfield Street, outside a 7-Eleven.

The car accident happened at shortly after 7 a.m. on April 17th. There are no further details on the incident.

This morning, around 8:30 a.m., a big rig plowed through a red light intersection causing a multi-vehicle accident. The driver was trying to make a left turn, but ignored the red light and collided into traffic entering the intersection on the southbound Route 140. Mansfield multi-car collision

Mansfield Police report the incident occurred at Route 106 and Route 140. Injuries were minimized by the use of seat belts and properly deploying air bag systems.

The southbound lanes of Route 140 were closed to traffic. Traffic was prevented from entering the Foxborough area between West Street and Cabot Blvd. Traffic was also blocked off from Route 106 through Giles Place.

A total of three cars were involved in the accident and all were removed from the scene by a tow truck.
