download-3A motor vehicle accident with injuries was reported to Worcester Police on Sunday around 6:00 pm.  The accident took place in the 400 block of Lincoln Street.  Worcester officers on duty responded to the scene shortly after receiving the call.  They located the vehicles involved in the crash.  Other units also responded.  Medical treatment was administered to the injured victims as police worked to obtain the details of the crash.

The cause of this accident remains unknown.  Police will consider a number of factors, including speeding, reckless driving, failure to yield and inattention as the work to determine who is at fault for the crash.  In the meantime, we hope for a speedy recovery for those injured in the collision.  There is no immediate word on the nature of injuries sustained or the drivers involved in this crash.  We will bring you further information as it becomes available.

Hit-and-Run Accident at Lincoln SquareWorcester Police responded to a vehicle accident with injuries occurring on Gates Street early Sunday morning.  The report of an accident came in to police around midnight.  The report stated that the accident had occurred in the 1 block of Gates.  Police went to the scene to discovery an accident with injuries, as reported by the caller.

Officers worked to secure the crash scene and verify the condition of those injured.  All involved remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.  The cause of the accident has not been revealed by police at this time and the severity of the injuries is unknown.  Police are still investigating to determine if any charges will be issued as a result of the crash.   The drivers were not immediately identified.

Where Can You Ride?

Most streets and roadways are bicycle friendly and accessible. This also includes sidewalks and other typical pedestrian routes.  However, if there is clearly a sign prohibiting bicyclists from entering the area, you are not allowed to ride there.  Cities have also adopted specific ordinances which regulate bicyclists and the places where they can ride.  Check your specific city code for more information on any local laws in your area.

Accident on Route 3Worcester police were called to the scene of a hit and run accident on Alpine Street on Sunday morning.  The accident, involving two vehicles, was reported, to officials at around 2:00 am.  Officers responded to the crash site and found one vehicle present, while the other left the scene prior to arrival.  The hit and run driver was not immediately apprehended.

The other driver was injured in the hit and run but their injuries are not specified at this time.  Charges are expected to be filed by Worcester police against the other driver for leaving the scene of a crash.  Police did not give any details on the nature of injuries sustained or the identity of the victim or suspect in this case.  The crash is still under investigation as of Monday morning.

Car Accident on Harding StreetTwo separate motor vehicle accidents were reported to police on Piper Road in Acton, Massachusetts early Monday morning.  The accidents were reported just after 5:00 am.  One accident involved property damage only.  The second accident, however, has reports of injuries to those involved.  This accident occurred on Route 2 eastbound and Piper when two vehicles collided with one another.

Acton police came to the crash scene along with other emergency officials.  The injured victims were tended to while police investigated the crash.  All involved remained on scene to cooperate with the police investigation.  The roadway was cleared after police finished investigating.  No word on the injuries sustained or the identity of those injured at this time.

A crash involving injuries has been reported to police in Burlington, Massachusetts.  The report came in just after 5:30 concerning a multiple vehicle crash with injuries on Route 128 just before Exit 33.  Officers arrived on scene shortly after the collision occurred.

The crash caused traffic delays in the area, although they are only described as minor approaching the accident scene.  The injured did receive treatment on scene but there is no word on their condition at this time.  Police urge motorists to continue using caution on the highways as they make their way into work this morning.  No further details were released.

images-2-3A Hazmat situation in Salem, Massachusetts has sent 30 workers to the hospital on Sunday night.  Hazmat officials were called to the scene of the Thermal Cigarettes plant located on Technology Way in reference to a possible chemical leak.  The plant manufactures e-cigarettes and is open 24 hours a day.

Workers at the plant reported feeling sick and nauseous, having issues breathing and feeling as though they were losing consciousness.  They quickly exited the building before authorities could arrive.  All total, about 30 workers were sent to the hospital following reporting of symptoms.  Some workers transported themselves while others went by ambulance.

Fire officials say this is not the first time they have responded to the plant.  Previously, a chlorine leak had resulted in another visit earlier this year.   The plant was tested for hazardous materials and the scene was secured and determined to be safe for re-entry.  There is no word on the condition of those who went to the hospital for treatment.

images-1-7Two pickup trucks collided with each other Saturday night in Tewksbury, Massachusetts leaving one driver with serious injuries.  The collision occurred around 8:30 pm at the intersection of Old Stagecoach Road and Shawshen Street.  The two trucks involved have been identified as a Ford F-150 and a Ford F-250.

A witness, Phil Marotta, who lives near the accident scene says he believes that the F-250 was traveling the wrong way down a one way street when it collided with the F-150.  Marotta said the collision was so loud that it shook his house.  Tewksbury police would not independently verify Marotta’s observations, saying only that the crash remained under further investigation Saturday night.

Tewksbury firefighters had to cut the top off of the F-150 in order to extricate the driver.  The F-150 driver, who has not been identified at this time, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.  The F-250 driver was also transported to the hospital, although there is no word on their current condition.  Police have not said whether they expect to issues charges as a result of this crash.
