Marlborough motorcycle accidentChelmsford, MA (June 27, 2018) – Police in Chelmsford have identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash on I-495 Monday.  David Mains, a fire captain in Raymond, Maine has been named by authorities as the man who lost his life.  Police now believe that Mains was traveling on 495 in a 2007 Yamaha Motorcycle when he struck the back of a 2016 Mercedes and was ejected from the bike.  The Mercedes had slowed down because of congested traffic.

Mains’ wife was also on the motorcycle with him at the time of the crash.  She suffered serious injuries and remains in the hospital.  There is no word at this time on whether the other driver will face charges and police have not released their identity pending further investigation.  Our thoughts go out to David Mains and his family in this tragic time.

Update:  Motorcycle Crash Kills OneChelmsford, MA (June 26, 2018) – A motorcycle accident on I-495 Monday injured two people in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.  The accident took place just north of Route 3.  Police arrived on scene to find two people injured in the accident.  Their injuries are described by authorities as serious.  Both injured victims received treatment on the scene before being transported to a local hospital for additional treatment.  A medical helicopter transported at least one of the victims.

The seriousness of the wreck caused major slowdowns for traffic in the area.  Both sides of I-495 were closed while the wreck was investigated and cleared by authorities.  As a result, delays extended for miles from the accident scene.  The roadway was finally re-opened around 5:00 pm.

There is no word on the condition of the injured victims and it is not known if any life-threatening injuries were suffered in this accident.  Chelmsford police continue to investigate.

download-4-1Chelmsford, MA (JUNE 25, 2018) – A multiple vehicle crash with injuries was reported on I-495 this afternoon in Chelmsford.  The crash occurred after 2:00 pm and shut down both sides of the highway while officers worked at the scene.  All lanes were re-opened by around 5:00 pm, in time for the rush hour commute.

The southbound lanes of the highway had to be blocked for a medical helicopter to land at the scene and transport injured victims to a nearby hospital.  At least one person has injuries which were classified by authorities as serious injuries.  There is no word at this time on the extent or severity of the injuries sustained.  Massachusetts State Police have not released a cause for the multiple vehicle crash or identified the drivers involved.  No other details are immediately available.

Hit-and-Run Crash in Needham Involving MotorcycleA Tuesday night crash has left a motorcyclist in Chelmsford with very serious injuries.  Responding officers first got a call just after 7:00 about a motorcycle lying on the ground in pieces at High Street and Acton Road.   When officers got to the scene they discovered the injured motorcyclist as well as an SUV that had been involved in a collision with the motorcyclist.  The motorcyclist was suffering from very serious injuries because of the crash.  He was transported to Lowell General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The SUV driver was not injured and cooperated with police on scene.

The speed limit in the crash area is 25 mph, but there is no word on what caused the collision.  Police continue to investigate the crash.  The motorcyclist has not been immediately identified except as a 21 year old man from Lowell, Massachusetts.

Motorcyclist Accidents

images-2A pedestrian has life-threatening injuries following an accident on Thursday in Chelmsford.  The accident happened around 2:40 pm.  At that time, police were dispatched to Billerica Road and Omni Way. Upon arrival they located a 54 year old man from Lowell suffering from life-threatening injuries.  The man was airlifted to a Boston Hospital with life-threatening injuries.  Further details about his injuries were not available.

The driver of the car remained at the scene and was interviewed by police regarding the accident.  No further information has been provided about the cause of the collision as police continue to investigate.
