Boston Police Called to Sunday Morning Accident

Police officers in our home town of Boston were busy Sunday morning responding to numerous reports of vehicle accidents. Some accidents were relatively minor in nature and involved only property damage but no injuries. However, in a few cases motorists suffered injuries in multi-car accidents.

One such accident occurred at 280 Southampton Street on the city’s south side. Police received a call around 10:45 am referencing an accident involving injury. Officer Bienvenido Delacruz responded to the call. Officer Delacruz quickly identified the injured victim and called for medical assistance. The injured person was treated on scene. There is no current word on their condition. The accident is still under investigation by the BPD and there is no word on the cause at this time. Identities of those involved have also been withheld.

Sunday Evening Injury Accident Occurs in Boston

A crash with injuries took place in Boston late on Sunday morning. Boston Police received a call about the accident just after 11:00 am. Officer Richard Anthony Errico with the Boston Police Department responded quickly to the scene at 108 Cushing Avenue. Officer Errico identified the vehicles involved and began an investigation on scene.

Unfortunately, the accident did involve injuries to at least one driver. That driver received medical treatment at the crash scene. There was no further word on their condition at this time and no other details have been released regarding this accident since Sunday morning. There is also no indication whether the Boston Police plan to charge anyone responsible for the accident. We hope for a speedy recovery for all involved.

Motorcyclist Hurt in Hyannis Crash

A motorcycle vs. car collision took place on Monday morning in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The crash was reported to Barnstable police at approximately 11:30 am. Upon receiving the reports, police responded to the intersection of Falmouth Road and Strawberry Hill Road. Once there, they discovered that a motorcycle and vehicle had collided with one another at the intersection. The area was blocked off while officers investigated.

At least one person was injured in the collision although they have not been identified as either the motorcyclist or vehicle operator. The injured victim was transported to Cape Cod Hospital. As of this time, their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The accident remains under investigation by police.

One Killed in Tractor Trailer Collision on I-84

Authorities were called to a crash on I-84 at approximately 12:30 am Sunday morning. Upon arrival they discovered a collision between a tractor trailer and two other vehicles. Both sides of the roadway were immediately closed for investigation.

According to state police, they located a tractor trailer in a ditch headed toward a set of trees on the eastbound side of the highway. The other vehicle involved in the crash flipped over and landed upside down against a concrete barrier located in the highway median. Sadly, at least one person died and another person suffered injuries from the crash. Officials have not released the identities of anyone involved in the accident. Approximately 80 gallons of fuel leaked out from the trailer after the crash. State hazmat teams were called in to clean up the spill. The highway was closed for about 12 hours while police investigated. The road was reopened at about 12;30 pm this afternoon.

Motorcyclists Injured in I-93 Collision

A weekend collision on Interstate 93 near exit 3 left two motorcyclists injured. The collision was reported to authorities on Saturday morning at around 10:00 am. First responders rushed to the scene of the crash. Upon their arrival, they discovered two motorcyclists lying in the roadway suffering from serious injuries. Both motorcyclists were located in the high speed lane of the highway.

Firefighters from the Salem fire department responded to the crash. They found one motorcyclist lying on the ground against a guardrail. The second motorcyclist was lying just north of the first. One patient is described as having multiple abrasions which are not considered life threatening. The second is described as having lower back and lower leg injuries, along with multiple abrasions. It is unclear if the second man’s injuries are life-threatening.

Both patients were transported to a Boston hospital as the investigation of the crash remained ongoing. The current condition of the victims has not been revealed. Authorities have also not identified either motorcyclist in the crash.

Pedestrian Accident with Injuries in Boston

Police in Boston responded to a pedestrian vs. car accident on Friday afternoon. The accident took place just prior to 4:00 pm. Boston police officer Dennis Moore was on duty at the time and received the dispatch call. Officer Moore quickly rushed to the scene. Upon his arrival, he discovered a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was suffering from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle. It is not clear if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the collision occurred.

Officer Moore called for emergency medical assistance. The pedestrian was treated for injuries on scene. No further details are available regarding the pedestrian’s injuries at this time. The driver and pedestrian were not immediately identified. Officer Moore’s investigation of the crash remains ongoing at this time. Neither the driver of the vehicle nor the pedestrian have been identified by police. If we receive any further information regarding this accident we will update you as soon as possible.

Pickup Truck Hits Moped in Boston

A moped was hit by a truck at approximately 9:00 pm on Thursday night. The crash occurred on east 8th street in Boston. That is when the moped attempted to make a turn from a side street onto 8th street. The pickup truck collided with the moped shortly after it made the turn. The force of the collision threw the moped riders, identified only as two teenage girls, into the air several feet before the landed on the ground. The moped was crushed in the collision.

The two moped riders are in a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The pickup driver remained on scene to speak with police. No charges have been issued at this time and police continue to investigate.

Man Charged After Jumping on Hood of School Bus

A man was caught on a dashcam video jumping onto the hood of a school bus on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Newton. That man is now facing summons on multiple charges.

The man is 42 and from Dorchester. His name has not been released by the police at this time. He is being charged with disorderly conduct, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and more.

State police have also submitted a request that his license be suspended or revoked.

Drowsy Driving is Impaired Driving

Hundreds of accidents occur annually due to driver’s falling asleep at the wheel. Drowsy driving causes severe impacts. Truck drivers are more likely to be involved accident due to lack of sleep because of the inherent nature of the job.

The only way to be the most alert as a driver is to get sufficient sleep. Drowsy driving is more common than you think. Drivers across the country drive after a late night at work, or staying out all night for a party. Many drivers have experienced the effects of drowsy driving when they find they have nodded off for a split second. They jump to alertness when other driver’s honk their horns or they sense the car veering off-road.

Truck drivers who have to drive for long periods of time have a far more increased risk of an accident that non-commercial drivers. When one truck driver is involved in an accident due to impaired driving, it does not just affect one other non-commercial driver but possibly half of a dozen due to the size of the truck.
