Rollover Accident on I-90In a disturbing trend of events, Worcester Police responded to at least three hit and run accidents in the city on Saturday.  One of these accidents took place in the 1 block of Richards Street near the center of town.   The call came to police around 10:00 am for a hit and run involving injury.  By the time officers arrived on scene, the other driver had left the scene.  Statements were taken from the injured victim remaining at the scene.  Officers completed a written traffic crash report and cleared the roadway of debris.  Traffic was temporarily affected but quickly resumed to normal after the crash.

There is no word on the extent or severity of injuries suffered in this crash.  Police are expected to file charges against the other driver for leaving the scene of an accident.

images-1-6-300x158Worcester Police responded to several calls for hit and run crashes in the city over the weekend.  While there were many other incidents in the city, there was an overwhelmingly large number of accidents which expended a substantial amount of law enforcement’s time and energy.

A hit and run with injuries occurred in the 100 Block of Shrewsbury Street around 2:00 am Saturday morning.  The hit and run resulted in injuries to at least one person.  The extent of injuries is not known at this time.  Police are still investigating the crash.  Charges are expected but it is unknown whether the suspect has been apprehended.  Neither of the involved individuals have been identified at this time by police.

car-300x225A hit and run took place in Worcester on Saturday.  The incident occurred in the 200 block of Perry Avenue.  Worcester Police received a call at approximately 12 noon regarding a hit and run accident at this location.  Police responded quickly to the call and, upon arrival, discovered that the accident involved injuries to the person remaining at the scene.

The other driver fled shortly after the accident and has yet to be located.  Police canvassed the area but were unsuccessful in their search.  It appears at this time that, fortunately, there were no life-threatening injuries suffered in this hit and run crash.  The police investigation is ongoing at this time.  The identity of the drivers has not been revealed and there is no word on the cause of the accident.

imagesIn an unfortunate report out of Boston, police there investigated a hit and run accident with injuries in the early morning hours Friday.  The crash report came in to police at approximately 1:15 an involved a hit and run occurring at 90 Southampton Street.

Police spoke with the driver who remained at the scene.  The driver reported to police that they had just been involved in a crash with another vehicle and that the other vehicle fled the scene.  The remaining driver did suffer injuries in the hit and run crash.  Police were attempting to apprehend the hit and run suspect but, at this time, there is no word on whether they have been located.  The driver who sustained injuries is expected to be ok as none of the injuries were life-threatening.

download-3Reports of a hit and run were received by the Worcester Police Department on Thursday evening.  The first call came in to the department around 6:00 pm.  The caller advised police of a hit and run accident involving injury that occurred in the 1 block of Chandler Street.  Chandler Street is located on the west side of the city, just west of downtown.

Worcester police investigated the accident and confirmed that the driver responsible for the crash left the scene.  Police did take a report in this matter and are still investigating how the crash occurred and are trying to find the responsible suspect.  An immediate search of the area yielded no results.  The search for the suspect remains active at this time.  No word on the condition of injuries sustained in the crash.

Haverhill police chase ends in crashPolice in Boston were busy responding to numerous injury accidents on Tuesday evening.  In most cases, drivers involved remained at the crash scene and cooperated with the police investigation into the accident.  However, in the case of an accident that occurred on Baker Street, at least one driver decided to flee the scene prior to police arrival.

An accident with injuries was reported to Officer Joanne Byrne at 9:42 pm.  Officer Byrne arrived to the Baker Street location where she was dispatched and found a person who had sustained injuries in a recent motor vehicle crash.  Through witness statements and her own observations, Officer Byrne concluded that this was  a hit and run crash.  The other driver has not been located by Boston police and the crash investigation remains ongoing at this time.  It is expected that charges will be brought as a result of this crash.  We hope for the speedy recovery of the injured victim in the meantime.

Injury Accident on Leyden StreetIn what seems to be a very unfortunate trend of not accepting responsibility, Worcester Police were called to the scene of multiple hit and run accidents across the city on Monday night.   One of the numerous accidents occurred in the 1 Block of Lake Avenue at around 10:00 pm.  An injured victim was discovered in the roadway at Lake Avenue by responding officers to the crash scene.

The other driver was nowhere to be found upon a police investigation of the area.  The injured victim was treated by medical personnel and fortunately their injuries are not noted as life-threatening.  The Worcester Police Department is actively investigating this case as a hit and run accident under department case number 2018000066217.   As of this report, the driver has yet to be located.

Pedestrian Accident in Hyannis, One in Critical ConditionPolice in Worcester, Massachusetts received a call on Monday about a possible accident with injuries occurring in the 600 block of Millbury Street.  Millbury Street is situated just south of the city’s downtown area.  Police quickly responded to the call.  Upon their arrival to the scene, officers were able to confirm that a crash had just occurred in the area.  One victim was left behind at the crash site suffering from injuries that were sustained in the collision.

Officers requested a medical unit to come out to Millbury and treat the victim.   First aid was given by EMTs.  The other individual involved in the crash decided not to stay and speak with police as the driver quickly left the scene of the crash.  Police have been unable to locate this driver as of the time this story is reported.  The driver will almost certainly face charges when and if they are located.  There is no word on the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash or the identify of those involved.

In disturbing news out of Boston, a motorist is accused of a hit and run crash causing personal injury.  The incident allegedly took place around 7:00 pm on Monday evening at Franklin Park Road within the Boston City limits.   Police initially responded to a call regarding an accident at that location and dispatchers sent  Officer Joseph Simonson of the BPD out to investigate.

When Officer Simonson arrived he discovered one person suffering from injuries received in the accident.  The injured victim was tended to by medical personnel while Officer Simonson investigated the crash.  After speaking with witnesses on scene, Officer Simonson determined that this was a multi vehicle crash and that one driver fled the scene before police arrival.  The BPD is classifying this incident as a hit and run with personal injuries.   The driver has not been apprehended at this time and there is no word on the condition of the injured victim.  Police could file criminal charges against the hit and run driver.

Car Crashes into Restaurant in PeabodyThe Worcester Police Department began the week by investigating a hit and run collision Sunday night.  The collision occurred on Perkins Street, just west of the downtown area.  Police officers were dispatched to the scene at around 9:00 pm in reference to the accident involving two motor vehicles.  When they arrived, however, they were able to locate only one of the vehicles.   As it turns out, the other driver decided to flee from the accident scene before police could arrive.

After taking statements and measurements from the scene of the crash, officers classified the incident as a hit and run.  Unfortunately, there were also injuries associated with this hit and run accident.  There is at least no indication that the injuries sustained were severe enough to be life-threatening.  Although there is no word on charges, it is expected that the driver who left the scene will eventually face charges related to leaving the scene of an accident.  At this time, the driver has not been apprehended by police.  The wreck investigation remains ongoing.
