Bike Accident on Washington StreetA bicyclist was struck by a car in Boston on Wednesday afternoon.  The collision took place around 5:45 pm on Dorcester Avenue within the city limits.   The collision unfortunately involved injuries to the bicyclist.  Officers with the Boston Police Department as well as local emergency medical technicians rushed to the scene to administer medical treatment.

At this time, we have no indication that the bicyclist’s injuries are life-threatening.  There is no specific detail on how the accident occurred or an indication as to whether the bicyclist or the vehicle operator might be at fault for the collision.  Additional details will be provided as they are available.  The Boston Police worked the accident scene and cleared the roadway.  The bicyclist has not been identified.

Bicycle Accident with Injury on Massachusetts AvenueA Cape Cod area bicycle accident took place late Saturday evening.  The accident happened in Dennis, Massachusetts on Lower County Road near Shad Hole Road.   The Dennis Police Department was dispatched to the scene of the accident.   After their arrival, they quickly secured the scene and began their investigation of the crash.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the bicyclist was traveling on Lower County Road when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle, also traveling on Lower County Road.  The bicyclist suffered serious injuries in the crash.  An ambulance also responded to the scene and EMTs administered medical treatment to the injured bicyclist.  The bicyclist’s injuries, however, required hospitalization.  He was later transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he is receiving additional treatment.   The condition of the bicyclist is unknown at this time and his identity has not been revealed.  Dennis police continue to investigate the crash.  Authorities have not revealed whether they intend to charge the driver in connection with the accident.

downloadA bicyclist was seriously injured in an overnight crash.  The crash took place Friday evening in Northampton, Massachusetts. The Northampton Police were called to a scene at New South Street at approximately 1:00 am upon a report of a bicyclist striking a vehicle.  Officers responded along with members of the department’s accident reconstruction team.

While on scene, officers were able to determine that a vehicle was stopped at the stoplight in the intersection.  The bicyclist came up from behind and struck the vehicle.  Northampton Police Sargeant Greg Korepta says the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.  At this time, no charges have been issued against the driver and it is unclear if any will be forthcoming.  The bicyclist’s condition was not immediately available.

downloadThe Boston Police Department responded to an accident between a bicyclist and a motor vehicle on Thursday afternoon.  At approximately 1:15 pm, the BPD was dispatched the accident scene.  Officer Exhni Qirici took the call for service.  Upon arrival, Officer Qirici observed that the bicyclist was injured in the crash.  Medical personnel also responded to the scene.

There is no additional word on injuries at this time and the names of those involved have not been released.  There is no indication that the injuries are life-threatening.  Police have not said whether the driver of the vehicle will face charges.

Bicycle Accidents

At 8:58 a.m. on Tuesday, Belmont Police responded to reports of a car accident at Belmont Street and Newton Street. Belmont car-bicycle collision injuries

The incident involved a 2011 BMW, whose driver was a female resident of Belmont. The female driver hit a man on a bicycle; the man was also a Belmont resident. His left leg sustained injuries in the accident.

According to the victim, the woman driving the BMW did not stop for him while she was trying to turn left toward Langdon Avenue. She ran into him as she was driving on Belmont Street. The man was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital. The woman states the man was not visible to her when she attempted her turn in Watertown.
