Pedestrian Accident on American Legion HighwayWorcester, MA (July 4, 2018) – A pedestrian accident occurred in Worcester on Tuesday morning.   Around 10:00, police were dispatched to the 1 block of Water Street in reference to a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident. Patrol officers quickly discovered that a pedestrian had been injured in this crash.  Officers radioed for an ambulance to respond to the scene to treat the injured pedestrian.  At this time, there is no word on the pedestrian’s condition.

From all indications, the driver involved in this crash cooperated with the Worcester police investigation.  No charges have been issued.  There is no further information available as of Wednesday morning.

Vehicle Accident on Cornerstone SquareWorcester, MA (July 4, 2018) – Several injury accidents were reported in Worcester on Tuesday, July 3rd.  Police were seemingly busy throughout the day going from one crash scene to another.  Some of the accidents involved injury to drivers involved.

An injury crash was reported to police around 1:00 pm.  The accident took place on Major Taylor Boulevard.  Injuries were sustained in the crash.   Patrol officers responded to the crash scene and closed down the roadway while they investigated.  This resulted in motorists experiencing some early afternoon delays while the investigation remained ongoing.

Police are still looking into the cause of the crash.  They will seek to determine whether one or more drivers were negligent in causing the collision and, if appropriate, will issue a citation for traffic law violations at the appropriate time.  As of Wednesday morning, there was no word on charges associated with the crash.

Vehicle Accident on Harvard StreetWorcester, MA (July 4, 2018) – Worcester Police were called out to a crash on Tuesday in the 400 block of Grove Street.  Around 2:00 pm police received a report of a crash with injuries at this location.  Officers responded to the call and arrived on scene shortly thereafter.  At least one person sustained injuries in the crash but it is not known at this time whether the injuries are considered serious or life-threatening.

A crash investigation is ongoing with the Worcester Police Department.  At this time, officers have not publicly released a cause for the crash.  A number of factors, including speed, driver inattention and violations of traffic laws will be considered in determining legal responsibility.  No additional information is available at this time.

Pedestrian Accident at South Hampton StreetNorth Adams, MA (July 4, 2018) – Police in North Adams, Massachusetts have identified and charged a driver in a very serious pedestrian accident that occurred last month.

On June 24, a 33 year old  man, whose name has not been released, had just exited a parked car at 291 West Main Street.  Upon exiting, the pedestrian was struck by an oncoming vehicle.  He was airlifted from the crash scene by a medical helicopter and transported to Bay State Medical Center.  He currently remains at Bay State in critical condition.

On Tuesday police issued charges against the driver, identified as 31 year old Galeb Garhartt.  Garhartt, of Pownal, Vermont, is charged with a marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

images-1Salem, MA (July 4, 2018) – A driver in Salem, Massachusetts sustained injuries in a two vehicle crash Tuesday. The crash occurred at 7:35 pm  on Washington Street, near the intersection with Mill Street.  Police say two vehicles collided with one another for unknown reasons.  The force of the collision caused the airbags in one of the vehicles to be deployed.

Police discovered that one driver was injured in the crash and requested that an ambulance also respond to the crash.  The injured victim accepted medical treatment.  It is not known at this time whether the victim was also transported to the hospital for additional attention.  This accident remains under investigation with no cause immediately given by Salem police.

No additional details are available as of Wednesday morning.

car-300x225Peabody, MA (July 4, 2018) – Police in Peabody, Massachusetts were called to the scene of a three vehicle crash on Tuesday.  The accident occured in the 200 block of Andover Street.  Police responded to Andover upon receiving a dispatch about the accident.  Once they arrived, they determined that three vehicles were involved in the crash.

EMS officials also responded to the accident.  The injured victims were treated at the scene but the severity and extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.  Police are actively investigating this crash in an effort to determine the cause.  No charges were immediately issued against any of the drivers involved.

The names of those injured in the crash have not been released by officers.

Massachusetts personal injury attorney unsafe roadsPeabody, MA (July 4, 2018) – Police in Peabody, Massachusetts responded to a two car crash Tuesday.  The crash occurred at 40 Enon Street around 6:30 am Tuesday morning.  The accident involved two vehicles.  Neither vehicle had passengers.

Police arrived on scene to investigate the crash shortly after it occurred.  Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were treated by EMS at the crash site.  Both declined to be transported to a hospital for further evaluation.  Officers believe that the accident occurred when one of the cars crossed the center line of the roadway and struck the other.  One driver was charged with a marked lanes violation for their role in the crash.

images-6Lowell, MA (July 4, 2018) – A woman riding a scooter in Lowell, Massachusetts was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night.  The woman was riding on Middlesex Street near the corner of West Aldea Street around 10:00 when she was struck by an SUV passing through the area.  The SUV driver fled the scene immediately after the crash and before police could arrive on the scene.

The injured woman was airlifted to a Boston hospital with serious injuries, according to Lowell Police Captain Paul LaFerriere.  It is unknown whether her injuries are life-threatening as of Wednesday morning.  The intersection of Middlesex and West Aldea was closed for nearly two hours while police investigated the crash.  Emergency broadcasts just after the collision indicated that the SUV had heavy front end damage.

Police are still searching for the hit and run driver and their investigation into the crash remains ongoing.  No other information is available at this time.

images-3-1Worcester, MA (July 4, 2018) – Police have completed their investigation into a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Worcester last month.

On June 12, 20 year old Gabriella Lowell was walking along Grafton Street, about a half-mile from her home.  Lowell was walking home from a nearby McDonald’s around 9:00 pm.  She was in a marked cross-walk, approximately three quarters of the way to the other side of the road when she was struck by an SUV.   Ms. Lowell was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries.

The driver, a 21 year old, stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.  The driver was visibly emotional and could be seen crying while talking to investigators.  No charges were issued at the time.
