Medical Negligence Third Leading Cause of Death in U.S.
From 2006 to 2016 there were over 143,000 payments made for medical malpractice instances. This resulted in over 433,000 adverse actions and required over 60,000 medical practitioners to seek reinstatement, according to the National Practitioner Data Bank.
The Journal of the American Medical Association reports that medical negligence is the third leading cause of death in America. This means that medical negligence deaths rank just behind heart disease and cancer. This fact shows just how common medical malpractice cases can be across the country.
