download-4-1Worcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – There were a lot of fireworks in Worcester for the July 4th holiday.  Unfortunately, not all of these fireworks were the kind that people want to see.

A hit and run crash with injury was reported to Worcester police around 10:00 am on Wednesday, July 4th.  The crash happened in the 1 block of Maywood Street involving two vehicles of an unknown description.  Officers are actively searching for the hit and run driver but had been unable to locate them as of Thursday morning.

One person did receive injuries in the hit and run crash.  The nature of the injuries and the extent of those injuries have not been available.  Criminal charges against the other driver are pending at this time.  This accident remains under investigation.

Vehicle Accident on Plantation StreetWorcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – The July 4th holiday was not very festive for some Worcester residents who were involved in a crash on Crompton Street Wednesday afternoon.  The crash occurred around 4:00 pm in the 1 block of Crompton and involved two vehicles.  Police have not provided a description of the vehicles, nor have they given a cause for the collision, however, they have confirmed that injuries were sustained in the accident.

Medical personnel also responded to the scene of crash in response to the initial reports of injuries.  At this time, the condition of the injured has not been updated.  However, we do not believe that any life-threatening injuries were suffered in this crash.  The accident remains under investigation.  There is no word on whether any charges will be issued as a result.

download-3-1Worcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – One of many accident calls on Wednesday came in to Worcester police around 2:00 pm.  This call came from the 1 block of Plantation Street in reference to a personal injury accident occurring in the area.  Although authorities have not released a description of the vehicles involved in the crash, it has been confirmed that at least one person suffered injuries as a result.  The condition of the injured person is unknown.

Police conducted an accident investigation but have not released any of their findings as of Thursday morning.  This case is filed with the Worcester Police Department under complaint number 2018000073162.   No further details are available.

images-1Lowell, MA (July 5, 2018) – A car struck a home in Lowell, Massachusetts on Tuesday resulting in injuries to one person.  The collision happened on Bridge Street around 11:00 pm.

According to Lowell Fire Captain Paul Laferriere, the vehicle traveled off the roadway for an unknown reason and crashed into the home.  It is unknown if the home was occupied at the time of the crash.  Police and EMS responded to the crash.  The driver was transported to a local hospital with injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Lowell police have not released any additional information on this crash or what may have caused the driver leave the road and crash into the house.  They say that more details will be available after the written crash report is filed.

download-3-4Merrimac, MA (July 5, 2018) – A multi car pile-up on I-495 Wednesday resulted in traffic headaches for holiday travelers and caused injuries to those involved in the crash.  The collision happened just after 4:00 pm on 495 North just prior to Broad Street.  Multiple vehicles were involved in this crash.  One of the vehicles ended up off the roadway and came to rest on the right shoulder, resulting in that area being blocked.  Traffic backed up for a considerable distance leading towards the crash scene until police could clear the damaged vehicles from the road.

At least one was injured in the crash and received medical treatment as a result.  The extent and severity of injuries remains unknown at this time.  Police were able to clear the roadway within an hour and allow traffic to pass through again.  The accident remains under investigation.  No word on the identities of those involved.

Accident Involving Police VehicleWorcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – Several hit and run accidents were reported on Wednesday morning in Worcester, Massachusetts.  Police were busy on the holiday responding to one crash after another.

At approximately 7:00 am officers were dispatched to the 1 block of View Street on the south side of the city in reference to a hit and run between two vehicles.  Police rushed to the site of the collision.  Although they were unable to immediately locate the hit and run driver, they did make contact with the other driver who stated they had been hit by another car prior to the driver fleeing the scene.   The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision and was treated by paramedics on scene.

Police have not released a description of the hit and run vehicle that they are searching for, but it is believed that the vehicle will have front end damage from the collision.  This accident is currently under investigation.  Criminal charges are expected when the driver is apprehended.

Vehicle Accident on Harvard StreetWorcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – The holiday got off to a less than desirable start in Worcester, Massachusetts on Wednesday.  Around 6:00 am, police received reports of a hit and run on Olde Millbury Street.

The accident, involving two vehicles, was investigated by patrol officers.  Upon their arrival, officers confirmed that an accident had just taken place and that one vehicle left the scene before police could speak with the driver.  The other driver remained at the scene and explained that a vehicle had hit them and then fled.  One person was treated on scene for unknown injuries while police worked to complete their traffic investigation.

There is no word on the extent of injuries at this time.  Worcester police are still searching for the hit and run driver and are encouraging members of the public to come forward with any information they may have.

download-6Worcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – An accident with personal injuries occurred in Worcester on Wednesday.  The accident happened around 9:00 pm between two vehicles traveling on Barclay Street.  Worcester police arrived on scene to investigate the crash.  It is not clear at this time what caused the accident.  Officers discovered that they accident involved injury to one driver and called for an ambulance to respond to the scene and administer medical treatment. Paramedics treated one person on the scene for their injuries.

Traffic on Barclay Street was momentarily delayed while officers investigated and cleared the crash.  There is no update on the condition of the injured victim.  Police continue to investigate the accident and have not identified the drivers.  No charges were issued on Wednesday and it is not clear whether charges will be issued at a later date.

Accident on Massachusetts Turnpike Injures Ludlow WomanWorcester, MA (July 5, 2018) – An elderly couple from Worcester died in a July 4th crash.  The crash happened Wednesday afternoon around 2:45 pm at Berry Road.  Officers responding to the scene found the couple, an 87 year old man and an 82 year old woman, trapped inside their vehicle.  An ambulance rushed the couple to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Witnesses reported seeing a 2011 Camry traveling on Lynnwood Lane before running through a stop sign and crashing into a boulder, apparently without slowing down.  The vehicle was observed to be traveling in the wrong direction on the opposite side of the road just before the crash.

There is no word on what caused the crash to occur.  Authorities are still investigating all possibilities and have not ruled out any potential causes at this time.  The deceased couple has not been identified.

download-6-1-300x168Mashpee, MA (July 4, 2018) – A child playing on Wakeby Pond suffered a severe leg injury on Tuesday evening.  The accident happened around 6:00 pm near Route 130.  According to initial reports, the child was in a tube on the pond when the injury occurred.   The child was apparently struck by a boat.  A medflight helicopter was called in airlift the young victim to a hospital.  However, authorities soon learned that the helicopter was too far away and instead elected to have the child transported by ambulance to Hasbro Childrens Hospital. It is not immediately clear if the was struck by the propeller or some other part of the boat.

The child’s injury has been classified as serious but no further details are given at this time.  The incident remains under investigation with local authorities as of Wednesday.
