Pedestrian Accident on Summer StreetWorcester, MA (July 9, 2018) – A pedestrian accident occurred in Worcester on Sunday morning.   Around 2:00 am, police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Main Street in reference to a pedestrian vs. vehicle accident. Patrol officers quickly discovered that a pedestrian had been injured in this crash.  Officers radioed for an ambulance to respond to the scene to treat the injured pedestrian.  At this time, there is no word on the pedestrian’s condition.

From all indications, the driver involved in this crash cooperated with the Worcester police investigation.  No charges have been issued.  There is no further information available as of Monday morning.

Pedestrian Accident in West Bridgewater  Hyannis, MA (July 7, 2018) – A pedestrian was struck by an alleged impaired driver early Saturday morning in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The collision took place around 1:00 am at the intersection of Main Street and Pine Avenue.  The pedestrian was walking through the intersection when they were struck by the vehicle.

An ambulance arrived on scene and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.  The driver was investigated by Barnstable police following the crash.  After administration of field sobriety tests, it was determined that the driver was impaired.  She was arrested and charged with OUI, speeding and operating to endanger.  The crash remains under investigation.

949267_pedestrian_crossing_sign-300x278Cambridge, MA (July 6, 2018) – A pedestrian suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Thursday.   Cambridge police report that a pedestrian was walking along Washington Street just before 8:00 pm when they were struck by a vehicle.  An ambulance came to the scene and took the patient to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police investigated the crash for some period of time.  Eventually, they concluded that the driver was at fault for the crash and that the pedestrian was struck while in a crosswalk.  The driver was charged with Failure to Stop for a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.  There is no additional information available at this time.

Pedestrian Accident with Injuries on Morton and Fuller StreetsPelham, MA –  Police in Pelham responded to a second pedestrian crash within a few hours on Thursday morning.   The first incident, which we previously reported on, involved a 71 year old woman.  In this incident, a 62 year old woman was hurt.

At around 8:00 am on Thursday, the woman was driving along Bridge Street when her car swerved off the road and into a tree.  The woman was out of her vehicle when another vehicle driven by a 31 year old man was passing through the area.  The man told police that he was temporarily blinded by sunlight.  Once he regained his vision, he realized that he was about to hit the woman, who was walking in the roadway.   Although he swerved to avoid a collision, he struck the woman, knocking her to the ground.

The driver immediately left his vehicle to check on the woman.  Police and rescue units responded while he remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.  The woman was transported to a local hospital with a leg injury, but her injuries do not appear life-threatening at this time.  Police are still investigating the crash but have ruled out speed and alcohol as factors.  No word on whether any charges are expected.

Patrol officers quickly discovered that a pedestrian had been injured in this crash.  Officers radioed for an ambulance to respond to the scene to treat the injured pedestrian.  At this time, there is no word on the pedestrian’s condition.

Boston Police Car AccidentNorthampton, MA (July 4, 2018) – A pedestrian suffered injuries after being struck by a police cruiser in Northampton, Massachusetts on Tuesday.  The collision took place in Pulaski Park while police were en route to a call about a suicidal person with a knife.  The woman who was struck suffered non life-threatening injuries.  She was transported to a nearby hospital to receive further evaluation, according to Northampton Police Chief Jodi Kasper.

The woman’s name has not been released.  Police were able to apprehend the knife-wielding suspect with no additional injuries to anyone involved.  It is unclear at this time if the responsible officer will be charged with hitting the pedestrian.

images-1-2Cambridge, MA (July 3, 2018) – Police in Cambridge, Massachusetts responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a child pedestrian on Monday.   Officers were called to Rindge Avenue just before 5:00 pm in reference to a car vs. pedestrian crash.  Once there, they discovered that a child had been struck by a car.  Pro EMS also responded to the crash to treat the injured child.  The child was transported to a hospital for evaluation.  The injuries are not believed to be serious.

Police are investigating the crash.  They do not suspect that any foul play was involved, however, there is no final word on whether the driver will be charged for hitting the child.  No further information about the crash is currently available.

Update: Pedestrian Identified in West Bridgewater Accident  Worcester, MA (June 30, 2018) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Saturday in Worcester, Massachusetts causing injuries.  The pedestrian was walking along Chandler Street on the right side of the road when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the far right lane.  The impact forced the pedestrian to roll onto the hood and into the car’s windshield.  He then fell off the car and landed on a curb.

Worcester police, fire and ambulance officials all rushed to the scene.  The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation.  The man was stabilized and then taken to a local hospital for treatment.  He is currently listed in fair condition.  The driver of the car is identified only as a 51 year old Worcester resident.  This accident remains under investigation by Worcester police.  No charges were immediately issued following the crash.

Ludlow Pedestrian Accident Injures TeenBoston, MA (June 30, 2018) – A pedestrian in Boston was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Friday.  The pedestrian was struck while walking on Blue Hill Avenue at 8:42 am.  Police on scene report that the pedestrian was injured as a result of the collision but have not confirmed whether the pedestrian suffered any serious or life-threatening injuries.

Unlike other injury accidents that took place in Boston Friday, the vehicle driver remained on scene and cooperated with the police investigation into the crash.   It is not known whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk or other marked area when the crash occurred or whether the vehicle driver will face charges for causing the accident.  Police are continuing to investigate this crash.  Should any additional information become available we will bring it to you.

Pedestrian Accident Reported on Marcella StreetBoston, MA (June 28, 2018) – A pedestrian walking along Shawmut Avenue was struck by a vehicle on Thursday evening.  The vehicle hit the pedestrian just before 9:00 pm.  The accident resulted in both Boston police as well as medical workers responding to the scene.  Once officers arrived they were able to locate both the car and pedestrian involved.  Officers obtained statements from each of them regarding the accident and how it occurred.

The pedestrian received medical treatment for the injuries sustained from being struck.  There is no indication that the injuries are life-threatening.  It is unknown at this what led up to the accident.  Police are expected to investigate a variety of factors, including whether the pedestrian was in a crosswalk or other marked area, whether the driver was speeding or distracted and whether the pedestrian or driver could have taken steps to avoid the crash.  All of these factors will help police to determine responsibility for the accident.
