download-6-1-300x168Mashpee, MA (July 4, 2018) – A child playing on Wakeby Pond suffered a severe leg injury on Tuesday evening.  The accident happened around 6:00 pm near Route 130.  According to initial reports, the child was in a tube on the pond when the injury occurred.   The child was apparently struck by a boat.  A medflight helicopter was called in airlift the young victim to a hospital.  However, authorities soon learned that the helicopter was too far away and instead elected to have the child transported by ambulance to Hasbro Childrens Hospital. It is not immediately clear if the was struck by the propeller or some other part of the boat.

The child’s injury has been classified as serious but no further details are given at this time.  The incident remains under investigation with local authorities as of Wednesday.

Injury Accident on Depot StreetA crash in Mashpee on Friday resulted in three people being sent to the hospital with injuries.  Multiple cars were involved in the accident which took place on Highway 151, the Nathan Ellis Highway, just outside of Dino’s Sports Bar.   One of the vehicles involved in this crash caught fire shortly after the accident.  Fire personnel on scene were quickly able to extinguish the fire.  One of the injured victims had to be pulled from their car by rescue workers.

All of the injured were taken to nearby Falmouth Hospital to receive further medical treatment.  Although this accident certainly appears to be serious based on early reports, we do not know the extent of any injuries at this time.  The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Mashpee Police Department.  The names of any drivers or passengers involved in the crash have not been released.

This morning, the Mashpee Fire Department released news that its firefighters responded to a call Monday, April 16th of a collapsed floor. Upon arrival,Floor collapse injury Mashpee the first responders found a female had fallen through the decayed floor of her entryway.

The incident occurred in the early afternoon, just before 3 p.m. at 177 Main Street in Mashpee. Fire Captain Joseph Fellows reports that the woman was transported to Falmouth Hospital.

A Mashpee Building Commissioner, Michael Mendoza, will review the house to make sure that it is still habitable despite the cave in.
