man seriously injuredWhately, MA (June 27, 2018) – An ambulance was involved in a rollover crash Wednesday morning in Whately, Massachusetts leading to serious injuries for all five occupants.  The crash happened around 9:00 am on at mile marker 32 on Interstate 91.

Police say five people were aboard the ambulance when it rolled over.  Initial accounts are that four of the five people were rescue workers while the the other was a patient inside the ambulance.  All five individuals were identified as adults.  All but one lane of the highway was shut down while police and emergency workers were on scene.  The five victims were transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.  There is no update on their conditions.  The affected lanes were closed for about an hour before re-opening for traffic after the accident was cleared. There is no word on what caused the ambulance to roll over.

Tractor-Trailer Crash in Milton Causes InjuriesA driver in Springfield, Massachusetts was hurt in a collision with a tractor trailer on Saturday morning.  The accident took place on Interstate 91 at exit 9B just after midnight.  Police say that the driver was operating a Nissan Altima when they collided with the tractor trailer.

Police and medical personnel rushed to the scene to tend to the injured driver and to investigate the crash scene.  Massachusetts State Police Trooper Daoust indicated that the driver was taken to Baystate Medical Center due to injuries sustained in the crash.  Trooper Daoust has confirmed that the injuries are not life-threatening.  The truck driver was not injured.

State Police cleared the roadway by around 2:00 am.  The accident is still under investigation and there is no word on whether charges will be filed as a result of the crash.  No other details were released.

download-5-300x160A crash on Wednesday afternoon claimed the life of a tanker truck driver in Whately, Massachusetts.  The crash occurred on I-91 in the highway’s northbound lanes.  Police in Whatey say that the driver was hauling a load of fuel when he lost control of the truck, causing it to veer off of the right side of the highway.  After departing the highway, the truck rolled over, trapping the driver inside.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  He has now been identified by police as 47 year old Jody Crosby of Seymour, Connecticut.   Several agencies investigated this crash including Whately Fire and EMS, a regional hazmat team, Westover Fire, the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, Mass DOT and the state Medical Examiner’s Office.  Traffic in the area experienced major delays as a result of the crash and was down to one lane for several hours while authorities worked to clean up and investigate the crash scene.

They were evaluated after a fuel tanker collided, rolled over and dumped over 2,500 gallons of gasoline on the southbound Exit 49 ramp of I-91 of the Massachusetts state line.

A government spokesperson stated that the wells had been safe since April 13 The spokesperson also revealed that a private agency — ATC — is keeping on eye on the drinking water as well. ATC is filing reports with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

According to Massachusetts law enforcement, the collision occurred after 1 p.m. on April 9. The driver of the truck was Jonathan Andrew Edwards, 32, of West Springfield, Massachusetts. He did not to clear the ramp’s bend. The truck rolled, ending up on the right shoulder.
