The Startling Statistics

Update: Plantation Street Motorcycle Crash Victim Identified as Adrianna ColonBoston, MA (July 7, 2018) – The Boston Fire Department announced on Friday that one of its own has died in a motorcycle crash.  The deceased firefighter has been identified as Justin D. Poitras.  Poitras died when his motorcycle crashed into a car at the intersection of Clapp and Boston Streets in Dorcester.   Poitras was 31 years old at the time of his death and had served as a Boston firefighter for a number of years.  Prior to becoming a firefighter, he served his country in the US Marine Corps.

There is no word on what caused the crash at this time and the other driver has not been identified.  Police in Boston are still investigating the crash as of Saturday morning.

Motorcycle accidents can be fatal. The risk of a serious accident occurring should remind us all to remain violent when we are driving. Motorcyclists are at a higher risk because they are not protected by a vehicle. Drivers must look out for people on motorcycles and share the road with them.

On June 3, State Police received information about a motorcycle accident that occurred in Woburn. A motorcyclist from Barre, Vermont, was killed in the accident that occurred on the ramp from Interstate 93 to Interstate 95. According to police, Arthur J. Healey Jr., 75, was driving his 2017 Harley around 1:00 p.m. when the accident occurred.

The motorcycle left the highway, and the sustained traumatic injuries. It appears that another vehicle was involved, but this accident is still under investigation. Police closed the ramp while the scene was cleared, and the ramp was reported around 2:30 p.m.

Worcester PD Investigate Dirt Bike Collision
People riding motorcycles can be at risk of being seriously injured in accidents.

Worcester Police Department had their crash reconstruction unit investigating a dirt bike and moving vehicle collision that occurred on Mill Street. It is not clear at this time if anyone was injured in this accident.

While we do not know what caused the accident, motorcyclists can be vulnerable parties on the road. They are not protected in the same way that people in vehicles are. A vehicle can do serious damage to someone on a motorbike. It is essential for drivers to share the road with motorcyclists and look out for them.
