West Springfield Man Accused of Assaulting Police Officer
A man from West Springfield was arrested on Thursday after he damaged a vehicle and assaulted a police officer.

Authorities say that William Scafuri has been charged with assault and battery on a police officer as well as multiple other charges.

Police were called to an apartment parking lot after getting a report of destruction of a motor vehicle. They saw Scafuri and tried to stop him.

A collision in Middleboro sent two people to the hospital. One of these people had to be transported by medical helicopter. This incident occurred on Thursday night.

Responders were on the scene at 1158 Center Street at around 9 in the evening.

Police found a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder that was driven by David J. Thomas. He was driving north when he collided with a 20002 Ford truck that was being driven by a 31-year-old man.

Woman Dead, Man Injured in Head-On Collision
In Plympton, a head-on collision that happened on Thursday caused the death of one woman and injured one man.

Police were called to Route 106 at around 5 in the evening. Diane Giordani, 52, was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

2 Convicted of Killing Couple in Orange
The man and woman who robbed and then murdered an Orange couple during a home invasion have been sentenced.

Joshua Hary and Brittany Smith have been found guilty of first degree murder.

They were charged in connection with the killing of Thomas Hartley, 95, and Joanna Fisher, 77. They killed them inside their East River Street home in October 2016.
