On May 23, an accident near Exit 40 on Interstate-495 injured two and resulted in a fire that engulfed one vehicle and upended another. Emergency responders received notification of an accident along the interstate and proceeded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a pickup truck and Hyundai hatchback that appeared to have collided.
Through the course of the accident, the pickup truck rolled over onto its hood, severely damaging it as it came to a stop in the left lane. The hatchback remained upright but caught fire as a result of the crash. Andover Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and proceeded to extinguish the engulfed vehicle.
The elderly man who had been driving the truck suffered non-life-threatening-injuries and the 76-year-old driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
