Injuries Reported In Crash Involving Cement Mixer, SUV

downloadA cement mixer and an SUV were involved in a crash on Friday night in West Barnstable.  The crash occurred on Route 6, just outside of Sandwich.  The force of the collision caused the cement mixer to leave the roadway and run down an embankment off the shoulder.  The SUV suffered heavy property damage in the collision and was undriveable.

Miraculously, despite the damage caused by the crash, only one person suffered injuries.  The person was transported to a Cape Cod area hospital and treated for minor injuries which are not considered life threatening.  Officials had to use a side road to remove the cement mixer from the embankment because it had fallen so far off the roadway.  The accident remains under investigation and neither the driver of the SUV nor the cement truck have been identified.  Authorities provided no other details regarding how the accident occurred or which driver could have potentially been at fault for causing the accident in the first place.

Fortunately, the injuries sustained in this commercial vehicle crash were not severe.  On the other hand, that is not always the case when dealing with accidents of this type.  We see first hand the damage and destruction that can occur from accidents, especially those involving commercial vehicles, such as semi trucks, dump trucks and concrete mixers.  Many times, those involved sustain serious injuries and the accidents can even be fatal.  The SUV driver in this case was extremely lucky to walk away relatively unscathed and we are certainly happy to see that no one was killed or seriously injured as a result of this crash.
